Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.

Starting.... again...

>> February 27, 2010

I have started a low-carb diet before, and was successful once. So, here I go again, this time on doctor's orders to limit my carb intake and exercise more. This time around it is simply not a "diet" but more like a way of eating or a way of life. This will ensure it will be a long-term thing and not a quick fix. This will be a long journey, but a positive one.

This is embarrassing but if I state everything publicly then maybe it will urge me to keep going in the right direction and be held accountable for my actions.

I am currently 245 pounds at 5'4 -- The doctor tested my cholesterol and overall it was 210 and needs to be under 200 and my triglycerides are at 254 and need to be under 150. I have a lot of work to do, but I think I finally get it is more important to be healthy on the inside than look thin on the outside. I will work on my health and as a bonus weight will come off. My priority has shifted so I am excited to see some positive results. I go back to the doctor in 6 months to get checked again and I cannot wait to see my progress. I will try and keep updating as much as I can when I remember.

Starting Monday March 1, 2010.

Wednesday: Elliptical and Weights

>> February 25, 2010

I'm almost 6 months along now and feeling just wonderful! This has been the best pregnancy for me- of all nine pregnancies. I read recently that women who run or do other forms of vigorous exercise have happier more content babies because they learn to self soothe in the womb. It also helps prevent colic. I have noticed that on the day's I exercise the baby is more playful afterward. :)

Wednesday was a great work-out. Stats:

Elliptical: Minutes-61 Calories-500 Miles-4.61
Weights: (triceps & bicepts) Minutes-15 Calories-40

Total:
Miles- 4.61
Calories- 515
Minutes-76

Woo hoo!

>> February 24, 2010

I ran 2 miles Saturday the 13th and then due to not feeling well I did nothing last week.  I decided this weekend that I was going back to my old routine.  I began this week off right with 3.25 miles on the elliptical and 1 hour of Yoga!  I loved this Yoga teacher- she is more zen than any of the others and I really like that. :)  There were only a few moves I couldn't do because of pregnancy.  The last teacher told me the danger in trying certain moves was the pulling of the uterus and possibly tearing it.  No problem- I don't do those moves.  I love the tree and updog.

Today, my legs were recovering, but tomorrow I'm going back for more!

Stats:

Saturday 13th: 2 miles- 200 calories- 25 minutes
Monday:

Elliptical: 3.25 miles  -360 calories- 40 minutes

Yoga:  186 calories 60 minutes

Total for Monday:
Calories: 540
Minutes: 100
Miles: 3.25

Run, Mama, Run!

"Man imposes his own limitations, don't set any" ~Anthony Bailey

I've had several challenges with getting back into the running scene again. I have overcome them all, so I'll name them now: moving across country with my hubby, 7 kids and 2 cats zapped my energy. Second, getting used to a higher altitude. Third, pregnancy- which isn't a trial for women who were runners before pregnancy. So, really the third isn't a challenge. :)

Anyway, I went on a two mile run with my family today. I felt so wonderful afterward! Being 5 months pregnant I felt a little pressure on the bladder at first, but once I got going, the pressure went away.

Saturday:

Run: Miles-2, Calories-200 Minutes-25

This Week: Update

>> February 04, 2010

I slowed down a bit lately since hubby's been home helping me set up the house after the move. Monday or Tuesday I went running. Not too far since my pelvic bone was sore that day. I still ran a mile and felt so good afterward. Next week, we'll be able to settle into a new and normal routine- the first since we moved her 1 1/2 months ago.
