We enjoyed six days with my inlaws. It was hard to keep to a regular workout schedule with company, but even harder after they left trying to get my motivation back. My hubby is still on leave so it still feels like vacation.
Oh, did I mention we're moving to Colorado Springs? Yeeeee hawww! We'll be there before the end of the year.
Today, my husband and I ran to the gym and back (2 miles) and then did a short workout there including weights: arms, core, chest.

Elbows up Side to Side
Hope your October is going well! I'm still going!
My wonderful in-laws are visiting with us this week. We went to the gym on Monday for a short workout. I did a mile on the elliptical with my MIL and then did legs and lower back for weights. I'm still sore from that.
Then Tuesday we spent with our parents and I didn't stop for a workout.
Today, however, I got back to work. I spent time on two ellipticals and worked on biceps and triceps. When we got home we decided to be silly and put on the following song and everyone danced and danced-even Grandma! We listened to it a couple of times and another one too. If it makes you want to move, add it to your workout playlist!

Zumba---- ay-ya-yi!

I went to Zumba on Thursday ---just LOVING Zumba!
I also went to a 3 hour Zumbathon! Whooo oooh! I LOVE latin hip hop dancing! I was late, but my friend and I still made it for 2 1/4 hours of non-stop dancing with at least ten different Zumba teachers from the area.
Our teacher was there and she did her signature dances. I could tell very quickly which were the better teachers. I liked the ones with good choreography and not a bunch of weirdness. One woman was having her own private concert on stage singing loudly with her eyes closed and off in her own world on the choreography. We were all confused. It needs to make sense and go with the rhythm, people.
I thought that they only did these fests once a year and was stoked to hear that they are having a holiday Zumba fest too! ay ya yi!

(Me and Sara)
These pictures are from the three hour Zumba fest. We were 3/4ths of the way into the fest and having a great time!
Calories Burned today: 1022! Yeeee haww!

The Road
Running is powerful and mentally exhilarating. Nothing compares to being outside, smelling the earth and allowing your body to stay in the rhythm- the running rhythm. Today I had planned to stay home and just work online and homeschool the kids without any working out. By late afternoon I was feeling sluggish and my mind was foggy. I knew what would cure this sluggishness, so I tied on my running shoes and ran out the door.
It felt so great to be outside running. Why do I put off running? I love it. I ended up running 2 1/2 miles. I came back home rejuvenated and not only made dinner, but some dessert for the kids! Truth be told-I stole two cookies. {smile}
I found this poem today and thought it was beautiful:
The Essence of Running
Author Unknown
Running is a road to self-awareness and reliance …
you can push yourself to extremes and learn the harsh
reality of your physical and mental limitations or coast
quietly down a solitary path watching the earth spin
beneath your feet.
But when you are through, exhilarated and exhausted,
at least for a moment everything seems right with the world.

Spin and Free Weights with my Husband

What a spin class we had Friday! I was 10 minutes late. I brought my husband to try the class out with me. I am so excited that I can kick his butt in spin and Zumba. However, he can kick my butt in weight lifting and running any day. He is strong. I'm excited that with a lot of hard work, I am strong now too!

I've never bench pressed with my husband before and it was fun spending this time together. He taught me why I haven't been feeling sore from my previous bench pressing. My hand placement was too wide for my shorter arms. I feel it this morning after that long work out! :)
Due to being sick last week and only working out once, this week after a four intense workout sessions I'm so sore all over I can barely move. If you stop even for a short time you go backward.
Friday's Stats:
Spin: Miles-15 Calories-550 Minutes-50
Weights: Calories-454 Minutes-70 (chest, shoulders)
Total:
Miles-15
Calories-1004
Minutes-120

Zumba on Thursday
"Stifling an urge to dance is bad for your health - it rusts your spirit and your hips." ~Adabella Radici

Ha ha ha, my husband joined me in Zumba last night. Oh yeah, that was FUN! Usually there are one or two guys in the class. He happened to be the one guy. He did pretty good and said he'd be okay with going back! It was so fun showing him my favorite form of exercise (aside from running and spin).
Yeee haw!!!
Oh, guess what, local girls? There is a huge Zumba-thon coming up and it's 3 hours of Zumba for only $5!!! I'm sooooo going!!!

This class was high energy and intense all the way to the end so I think I'm being on the low side when I say 550 calories burned. We were dropping to the floor and coming up instantly. One of my favorite moves is the rodeo. It is fun!
I have several dances that are my favorites, but right now I love the Jungle Slide. This is the music for it. If you haven't tried Zumba, you are missing out! Our class is packed and I've never seen any other classes as packed as Zumba is. Try it!
Stats for Thursday:
